Quick review of Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000

This is the Microsoft Wireless keyboard 1000. I have had this keyboard for about six months now. I just have to say this is by far the worst wireless keyboard I have ever used. The Function buttons are double purposed and are often not even turned on. Instead they have alternate functions which are useless when using Ubuntu Linux and for the most part do not work even under Windows. There is however an F-lock button to shift between the alternates but you never what you're using because there is no light. So I have to experiment with it. Now, I'm all for experiments but not when it comes to working on something such as this blog post. Another very annoying feature of this keyboard is the terrible transmission of signals. The receiver is literally 1 foot away and it has a lot of trouble recognizing the ALT buttons. For some reason I just can't select more than three items at once. It will start over. Same goes for using the SHIFT button. I have to try about four times before the signals are properly read and the pc does what I tell it to, needless to say this is very annoying. The mouse on the other hand works quite well, no complaints here +1. There are good things about this keyboard. One is that is very comfortable to type on. The keys are soft to the touch and are easy to reach without hitting extra buttons. I can get a lot of work done with it. The other redeeming factor for this keyboard is the fact that it is wireless, but that's about it.
